The Maharashtra State Eligibility Test, or M-SET, is an important examination for those who aspire to work as Assistant Professors in colleges and universities in Maharashtra and Goa. It is held by Savitribai Phule Pune University and is meant to confirm that qualified candidates possess the academic qualifications for teaching in higher education.

1. IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS:
a. Before submission of the online Application Form, the candidate should read this Information Bulletin carefully.
b. On behalf of the States of Maharashtra & Goa, the Savitribai Phule Pune University, the State Agency, announces the holding of the 40th M-SET on 15th June 2025 (Sunday) for determining the eligibility of the candidates for the job of Assistant Professor in the Universities and Colleges in the states of Maharashtra & Goa.
Like UGC-NET (Assistant Professor only), the SET is exclusively conducted to determine the eligibility of the candidates for the job of Assistant Professor, and the State/nodal agency is not liable to provide a job to the SET-qualified candidates.
The Savitribai Phule Pune University, State Agency, will conduct the M-SET in 32 subjects (listed under Caption No.4) at 18 selected City centers (listed under Caption No. 5) spread across the states of Maharashtra & Goa.
c. The eligibility for Assistant Professor will depend on the performance of the candidate in both the papers of M-SET. Candidates who qualify for the test for eligibility for Assistant Professor will be governed by the rules and regulations for the recruitment of Assistant Professor, of the concerned Universities/Colleges/State Governments, as the case may be.
d. The result of the M-SET to be held on 15th June 2025 will be made available on the website: http://setexam.unipune.ac.in as and when it is accepted and permitted to declare by the competent authorities. The candidates will not be intimated individually about their results.
e. Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/ Other Backward Class (OBC),/ DT(A) (VJ),/NT(B)/ NT(C)/ NT(D)/SEBC/ (Non-Creamy Layer only)/Orphans/General EWS/ PwD are the recognized categories by the states of Maharashtra and Goa. The candidates will be given such special concessions as may be decided by the UGC.

f. The reservation mentioned in the Advertisement shall be binding on the candidates. However, any changes in the reservation policy by the State Government prior to the preparation of results will be applicable to SET.
g. All policies and rules relating to subjects, the declaration of results, and any matters concerning the conduct of the SET shall be binding on the candidates.
h. No request for any corrections in the application form shall be entertained by the Nodal Agency after 24th March 2025.
